A 19-year-old Class XII student of the Government Senior Secondary School, Lalru, sustained injuries after he was attacked by four youths with sharp weapons near the ITI chowk on Wednesday afternoon.

The victim, Rohit, was returning home from school when the four youths dragged him out of a private bus and attacked him with a knife and scissors over an old rivalry. Village residents intervened and shifted the victim to the Dera Bassi subdivisional hospital.

The police said all suspects were residents of Manauli Surat. They included former students of the school and their friends. A statement of the victim has been recorded.
