Students recite verses to mark Gita Jayanti

Around 3,300 students from various schools across the district’s four blocks joined online to recite 18 verses—one from each chapter—of the Bhagavad Gita.

At the three-day Gita Jayanti festival organised at the Government Post Graduate Women’s College, Sector 14, around 500 students connected online with the main programme held in Kurukshetra and participated in the global recitation. They also listened to the address of CM Nayab Singh Saini.

Besides, approximately 2,800 students from schools in Pinjore, Barwala, Morni and Raipur Rani blocks joined the recital virtually, making the moment truly memorable. Former Haryana Assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta was the chief guest. He noted that earlier celebrations were limited to Kurukshetra, but the festival was now observed at district, state and international levels, helping disseminate the divine message of Bhagavad Gita across the world.

Students who presented cultural performances based on the life of Lord Krishna during the three-day festival were felicitated by Gupta with certificates and mementoes.

The district administration, in collaboration with the Shri Krishna Kripa Parivar, organised a grand Shobha Yatra that drew thousands of devotees. Deputy Commissioner Satpal Sharma, former Assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta, Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal flagged off the procession from Shri Ram Mandir, Sector 2.

The massive procession, showcasing tableaux depicting the life and teachings of Lord Krishna and scenes from the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, moved through Sectors 4, 11, 10, 9 and 8 before culminating at Gita Chowk. As it passed, residents joined in large numbers, chanting devotional hymns and welcoming the procession with enthusiasm.
