Sukhmanpreet Singh posted five six goals as hosts Hockey Chandigarh started their 14th Hockey India Sub-Junior Men National Championship campaign with a stunning 16-0 win over Hockey Maharashtra at the Sector 42 sports complex. Prince Singh, Gurjeet Singh and Fateh Singh scored two goals each, while Rajveer Singh, Amit Singh and Sahil Duhan added one each.

In other matches, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu Hockey defeat Goans Hockey 9-0. Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu defeated Hockey Gujarat 10-4. Hockey Punjab defeated Hockey Karnataka 8-2. Manipur Hockey defeated Hockey Bihar 6-0 and Hockey Arunachal defeated Hockey Jammu & Kashmir 9-0.
