Residents complained of erratic water supply after power was disconnected from around 22 tubewells in Sector 123, 124 and 125. Officials said some of the tubewells had already been taken over from the Kharar Municipal Council. Five of these tubewells get supply from Punjab State Power Corporation Limited, Mohali circle, while 11 were under the Kharar circle, they said.
Officials said the tubewells were being powered by illegal kundi connections after power was disconnected due to non-payment of bills amounting to Rs 12 lakh.
Later in the evening, the water supply was restored in majority of the areas with the help of generator sets.
