A 32-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman of Rupnagar died after the SUV they were travelling in rammed into a trailer truck from behind on the Kharar flyover in the wee hours of Tuesday.

Victims Ajay Kumar and Sonia Saini were going back from Mohali to Rupnagar when the accident took place. It is learnt that Sonia used to run a salon.

The vehicle was badly damaged in the accident and the duo were extricated with the help of the police and passersby. Both were grievously injured and rushed to the Kharar Civil Hospital where doctors declared them dead.

On the complaint of Munish Kumar, the car driver and Ajay’s brother, a case has been registered against the trailer truck driver.

The bodies were handed over to the kin after a post-mortem examination.
