The pair of Swaraj Shailendra Dhamdhere and Tavish Pahwa reached the boys’ U-18 doubles final at the CLTA-AITA National Series by overpowering a tough challenge from Parth Prasannakumar Deorukhakar and Omkar Rajendra Shinde. Swaraj and Tavish logged a 6-3 4-6 10-7 victory to set up the title clash with Akshat Dhull and Neeraj Devendra Ringangaonkar, who defeated Armaan Walia and Rishi Yadav 6-4 6-4, in another semifinal.

In the girls’ U-18 doubles semifinal, Prachi Malik and Snigdha Patibandla ousted Mahika Khanna and Satakshika Sahayak 6-3 7-5. In another match, the team of Swati Singh and Pal Vipulkumar Upadhyay defeated Dhatri Dave and Aadirai KA 6-2 6-4.

In the boys’ U-18 singles event, Maharashtra’s Neev Ravi Kothari marched into the semis. He was leading 6-3 against Karnataka’s Sreenivas Nikhil Kurapati before the latter conceded the match.

Twelfth seed Haryana’s Tavish also marched into the final-four stage by logging a 7-6 (1) 6-1 win over fourth seed Swaraj, while local contender Akshat registered a brilliant comeback win over Maharashtra’s Omkar. Akshat went down to 3-6 in the first set, but recovered in the next two by securing a 6-4 6-3 victory for the semis.

In another upset, 10th seed Armaan of Punjab defeated second seed Parth Prasannakumar of Maharashtra in straight sets 6-1 6-0.

Devanshee Nikhil Prabhudesai of Maharashtra won her girls’ U-18 quarterfinal against Aadirai KA 6-4 6-1. Shatakshika Sahayak of Uttar Pradesh returned from 3-6 defeat in first set to stage a comeback in the next two sets 6-0 6-0 against Haryana’s Reet Arora. Haryana’s Prachi Malik upset third seed Pal Vipulkumar Upadhyay of Gujarat 7-5 6-0, and Jaya Kapoor of Uttarakhand defeated Haryana’s Anandita Upadhyay 6-4 6-3.

The singles semifinals and doubles finals will be played at the CLTA Complex in Sector 10 tomorrow.
