Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Gian Chand Gupta inaugurated a synthetic track, a lawn tennis and badminton court in Sector 6 here today. All the facilities have been built at a cost of Rs 69 lakh.

Apart from this, he laid the foundationstone of development works to be executed in ward number 2 at a cost of Rs 1.20 crore. Panchkula Mayor Kulbhushan Goel and Municipal Commissioner Sachin Gupta were also present on the occasion.

Congratulating the residents of Sector 6, Gupta said these facilities would benefit the residents here, especially senior citizens. He added that these would be made available in the parks of every sector so that more people may be able to stay healthy. He said these would be maintained through resident welfare organisations or NGOs.

He claimed that in the past nine years, development works worth more than Rs 5,000 crore had been carried out in the Panchkula district. He said National Highway 73, polytechnic-cum- engineering college, medical college and modern hospital works among others have been done in Panchkula.

He said his aim was to make Panchkula green, clean, beautiful as well as drug-free. He urged the residents to inform him, the Mayor or the police about anyone selling drugs or running hookah bars, so that strict action could be taken against the offenders. The informant’s name would stay anonymous.
