A man was stabbed to death at Mauli Jagran as he resisted a robbery attempt.

The police have arrested three suspects, all Panchkula residents. The victim has been identified as Suresh Kumar, a resident of Mauli village, who worked as a tailor in Mohali.

His son, Rohit, reported that his father didn’t return home from work at his usual time on Thursday. He told the police that his father had received salary and they were supposed to go to the market for purchasing groceries.

The police said Rohit went to the market looking for his father where he saw three youths who were trying to rob his father. When his father resisted, one of the robbers stabbed him in the neck with a knife. The three fled the spot after the assault.

The police were informed about the incident and Suresh was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to injuries.

A murder case was registered at the Mauli Jagran police station. During investigation, three suspects, identified as Sahil, alias Kancha (19); Sikander, alias Pappu (22), both residents

of Rajiv Colony; and Jaiparkash, alias Kalu (21), a resident of Indira Colony, were arrested.

The police said the knife used in the crime had been recovered.
