The Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory (TBRL), Chandigarh, has donated 200 sets of personal protective coveralls to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32 and the Office of Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Dera Bassi.

These coveralls have been tested and approved by the South India Textile Research Association (SITRA), Coimbatore, which is accredited to the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories and a government authorised laboratory for testing medical textiles in India.

TRBL, a Defence Research and Development Organisation establishment engaged in strategic defence projects, is also supplying face protection shields and aerosol containment enclosures to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) for safety of the medical staff.

As per the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on the rational use of personal protective equipment (PPE), coveralls are designed to provide 360-degree protection to healthcare providers from exposure to virus because they cover the whole body. The PPE material should be impermeable to blood and body fluids.
