Physical Training Instructors (PTIs) today organised a protest outside the residence of education minister, Harjot Singh Bains in Nangal today. The minister was here for a "Sada MLA Sade Vich" programme meeting.

They alleged that there Are about 25,000 PTIs in Punjab. However, the government has not recruited them since last 17 years. The previous government advertised their posts in 2021 but never carried out the recruitment. The present government, they said, advertised the posts but it has been withdrawn.

Bains said he had lobbied for recruitment but candidates with Bachelors in Physical Education degrees degrees moved Punjab and Haryana High Court on plea that they should also be considered for the posts. The Punjab and Haryana High Court directed the state government to withdraw the advertisement, he said.

The minister said that the government would look into the issue before issuing a fresh advertisement.
