Kabir’s poems and teachings are fully relevant to today’s social conditions and human life, Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria while attending a state-level seminar organised by Bhagat Kabir Welfare Foundation at Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Landran.

Speaking at the event marking the on the occasion of Bhagat Kabir Prakash Utsav , Kataria said that although the great saint born in Varanasi in Kashi, Uttar Pradesh, did not have bookish knowledge, he gained knowledge based on experience in the company of great saints. “This is the reason why even after hundreds of years his teachings are still effective among common people, society and intellectuals,” he said. During the seminar, organis in collaboration with Sri Hari Sharanam Seva Sansthan, other speakers also shared their views on Kabir’s life and teachings.

Amritsar Northern MLA Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh said Kabir was known as a sociologist and the authenticity of his revolutionary ideas is still fully intact. Chandigarh Group of Colleges president Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, Punjab State Food Commission chairman and Deputy Mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi were also present at the event.
