Addressing a rally organised by the Chandigarh Pradesh Congress Committee in Daria village, Tewari said “People are fed up. The BJP-led MC has become the very definition of inefficiency and neglect.”
He said development has come to a standstill in the city, adding, “I once again demand that the Central Government release the MC’s rightful 30 per cent share without delay. I will continue to speak for the people of Chandigarh, no matter who gets hurt by it.”
He also assured the residents of Daria that their genuine demands will be taken up and resolved.
Congress’ local unit president HS Lucky also accused the BJP of systematically destroying the civic body for political gains. “For eight long years, Chandigarh has suffered under the BJP’s misrule. Successive BJP Mayors have rolled out one faulty scheme after another, driving the MC towards financial collapse. The recent refusal by the Ministry of Home Affairs to provide funds is proof of the BJP’s arrogance and insensitivity towards the people of Chandigarh. They have reduced the MC to a puppet that cannot serve its citizens,” he said.
