The Tribune MUN 2024: 200 pupils discuss Yemen conflict, digital rights

The event, sponsored by Chitkara University and powered by Grid Advertising, Sector 34, was attended by over 200 schoolchildren representing various committees and showcasing their talent.
Various brainstorming sessions of different committees were during the two-day event. In the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) event, Sanyam Goswami (Israel- 2) of Saupin’s School, Sector 32, was adjudged best delegate, while Mithilesh Katyal (Spain-1) of Guru Nanak Public School, Sector 36, won the high commendation event. Prithvi Raj (Japan) of Guru Nanak Public School got the special mention.
Arradhay Gupta (China) of Hansraj Public School,, Panchkula, bagged the best delegate event of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), which held deliberation on the dispute in the South China Sea and its implications.
Yashveer Singh (Malta-1) of Guru Nanak Public School from executive-1 was awarded high commendation, and Neev Puri (USA) of Moti Ram Arya School, Sector 27, was awarded with certificate. Harshleen Kaur (Philippines) of Mind Tree School, Kharar, got the special mention. Abhijay and Daksh were on board as executive 1 and executive 2, respectively.
The high commendation event was bagged by Samannya Seal (Amit Shah) of Ankur School, Sector 14, while Mani Mishra (Kiren Rijju) of The Tribune School found the special mention. Samabir was on board as executive-1.
Rishant of Chitkara International School, Sector 25, was adjudged best journalist during the International Press, Journalism and Photography will be the highlight of the event. Ayushman was executive-1 of the event.
District and Sessions Judge Arunvir Vashista awarded the winners, during the concluding ceremony. In his address to the participating students, the Judge guided them to work hard.
Earlier, School Principal, Rani Poddar welcomed the chief guest. Meanwhile, Dr Madhu Chitkara, Pro Chancellor, Chitkara University, also congratulated the students. Besides hosts Tribune School, Mount Carmel School, Sector 47; Yadavindra Public School, Patiala; Mind Tree School, Kharar; Guru Nanak Public School, Sector 36; St Stephen’s School, Sector 45; Hansraj Public School, Panchkula; Moti Ram Arya School, Sector 27; Ankur School, Sector 14; Chitkara International School, Sector 25, and others participated in the two-day event.
On Saturday, Justice Aman Chaudhary of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, inaugurated the event amid fanfare.
He said, “The prestigious conference is not just a simulation, it’s a thrilling opportunity to hone your public speaking, negotiation and critical thinking skills.” Addressing the participating students, Justice Chaudhary advised them to be the leaders of future and torch-bearers of the nation.
