Thieves break into 6 shops at Mohali mall
Miscreant broke open the locks of six shops on the fourth floor of the Jubilee Walk shopping mall in Sector 70 on Wednesday around 10.30 pm. Cops said around Rs 35,000 and some goods were stolen from a salon and a real estate dealer’s showroom. Sources said one person was seen in the CCTV footage who remained inside for nearly three hours.
Shop owners came to know of the incident this morning after which the police were called in. Cops suspect that the miscreants entered and exited the mall through an ‘emergency duct’. Questions are also being raised on the lax security in the mall with the cops not ruling out the possibility of an insider’s role.
Mataur SHO Aman Trikha said, “We are looking into the security loopholes. CCTV footage of the area is being scanned and very soon the suspects will be traced.”
The mall, touted as an ‘International High Street’, was opened recently . Earlier, the mall’s security in-charge had refuted the theft claims.
