An amount of Rs 5 lakh and jewellery were stolen from an Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer’s house in Sector 46.

According to the police, Sansar Chand, a resident of Sector 46, who is a junior intelligence officer in the IB, reported that he was on two weeks leave. On November 21, his neighbour called him to inform that his house was lying open.

The complainant rushed to Chandigarh and found Rs5 lakh, which he had taken as loan from a bank and jewellery items, including gold and silver, stolen from his house. The police were informed following which a case was registered at the Sector 34 police station. —TNS
