Three children sustain burn injuries after bonfire explosion

Three children were severely injured after a sudden explosion which occurred when they were sitting next to a fire in Sector 11. The victims, aged between four and seven, suffered severe burn injuries on their hands and faces.

The children, Sabrina, 8, Salim, 7, and Sahida, 5, are residents of Abheypur village in Sector 19 and had accompanied their father, who runs a fruit vending cart in Sector 11.

Witnesses described the explosion as massive, creating panic in the area. Neighbors quickly rushed to assist the victims, and emergency services were called. The children were rushed to the Civil Hospital in Sector 6, where doctors reported their condition as stable.

Two of the three victims have been discharged.

The authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the explosion. Initial reports suggest the children had picked collected waste lying around to light the fire and some of the material used may have caused the explosion.

Police are also considering the possibility of foul play and are interviewing witnesses and relatives to uncover whether negligence or malice was involved.
