Three separate complaints were lodged at the Sector 11 police station a day after a clash between rival groups on the Panjab University campus left five injured.

A student from Fazilka accused a group of rivals of assaulting him. Another complainant, hailing from Mohali, alleged that he was beaten up with sticks and bricks, besides claiming his car was vandalised during the scuffle. The third case was filed by a student from Phase 8, Mohali, who alleged that his brother was targeted by members of an opposing party.

On the basis of the statements, the police registered three cross-FIRs under relevant provisions of the BNS. Officials confirmed that inquiries have begun to piece together the sequence of events and determine responsibility for the violence.

The clash had broken out near Hostel No. 7 between members of USO, SFI and Sath in the aftermath of the student council elections.
