Three held for attack at Panchkula councillor’s house

Teams from the crime branch and local police outposts carried out continuous raids

The police have arrested three youths for allegedly attacking a city councillor at her shop and vandalising her house.

In a complaint submitted to the police, Ward Number 7 Councillor Usha Rani and her husband Ram Prasad, residents of Indira Colony, stated that a group of youths had attacked them at their shop and also targeted their house.

Following the complaint, the councillor also approached the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP). Taking immediate cognizance, the DCP personally visited Indira Colony and ordered increased foot patrolling, and directed rider and ERV personnel to monitor all suspicious activities.

Meanwhile, teams from the crime branch and local police outposts carried out continuous raids. Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Satish Kumar, posted at Sector 16 Police Outpost, apprehended accused Sunil Kumar on March 27 from Budhanpur Park. Later, on April 16, accused Karn Singh was arrested from Indira Colony. Today, the third accused, Vijay Kumar, was also taken into custody. All three are residents of Indira Colony.

A case has been registered against them at Sector-14 Police Station under sections 115, 190, 191(3), 324(4), 351(2), and 79 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
