Three youths arrested for murder bid on cop in Chandigarh

The arrests were made on Thursday.
The accused, Sanjay, alias Sunju (24); Ashu (37) and Sanjay (32), all residents of Burail, were arrested in connection with the case registered on December 11 under Sections 132, 109(1), 121(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Sector police station. They were produced before a local court and remanded in judicial custody.
The police said Ashu was already involved in nine other cases registered across Chandigarh.
According to the FIR lodged by Head Constable Hansdeep, the incident took place around 11.10 pm on December 10 when he and Constable Surinder were patrolling near Jawal Motor Kabari Market, Burail. The officer spotted three allegedly intoxicated men creating a nuisance. When he approached them, the trio reportedly assaulted him. Two of the accused allegedly pinned him down while the third picked up a cement block and struck him on the head multiple times, threatening to kill him. The other two continued to assault him with kicks and punches.
