Punjab Governor and UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore today congratulated the Indian contingent which went to Tokyo to participate in the Olympics. Badnore also extended his best wishes to the contingent, which includes five athletes from the city.

Dharam Pal, Adviser to the Administrator; KK Yadav, Secretary Sports and MC Commissioner; and Sports Director Tejdeep Singh Saini were also present on the occasion and extended their best wishes to the entire Indian contingent and the athletes from Chandigarh.

Punjab Sports Minister Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi cheers up Indian athletes

Mohali: Punjab Sports Minister Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi on Friday cheered up the Indian contingent participating in the Tokyo Olympics. Accompanied by Sports Secretary Raj Kamal Chaudhary and Joint Secretary, Sports, Kartar Singh, Sodhi through a videoconference from Sector 78 Sports Stadium here urged people to create messages and videos to boost the morale of the Indian athletes. — TNS

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
