Top seed Maharashtra’s Ruma Gaikaiwari defeated Gujarat’s Dhara Thakur in straight sets 6-3 6-0 to march into the women’s main draw, during the ongoing CLTA-AITA National Ranking Tennis Championship, at the Sector 10 Complex.

Second seed Haryana’s Alexa Jagdeep faced a tough contest from Delhi’s Manvi Rathi before logging a 6-7 (2) 6-2 10-8 win, while Delhi’s Jeetesh Kumari defeated Haryana’s Avni Sahraya 6-2 6-1. Neelakshi Lather also marched into the next round by defeating Bhumika Rohilla 6-3 6-3, and Anu Moar ousted Punjab’s Kiran Rajput 6-1 6-0. Shrawasti Kundilya also won a seesaw battle over Sidhak Kaur 6-2 4-6 10-4, while Isha Budwal easily overpowered Delhi’s Ela Pandey 6-3 6-0. Shatakshika Sahayak of Uttar Pradesh outplayed Aadirai KA 7-5 3-6 10-5.

In the men’s singles final qualifying round, top seed Sathak Sudan easily defeated Punjab’s Ekamjeet Singh Cheema 6-1 6-3, while Asnshumat Srivastava of Bihar defeated Daksh Kapoor 6-2 6-1. Third seed Shreyas Dogial of Rajasthan outplayed Ved Sampath Pawar of Maharashtra 7-5 6-4, and Delhi’s Ronit Gupta stunned 4th seed Gauransh Sood 6-2 6-1. Tushar Bali of Uttar Pradesh also marched into the next round by defeating Parth R Patil 6-3 3-6 10-8, and Pranav M Saravankumar defeated Swatantar Veer Singh Kajal 6-3 7-6 (2). Joy Das recorded a comeback 1-6 6-2 10-8 win over Yashasvi Balhara, and local contender Keshav Dangi also logged a hard-fought win over Nishant Kumar 6-4 2-6 10-7.
