Top seed Punjab’s Sahira Singh moved into the women’s semifinals by logging a 6-2 6-1 win over Jaya Kapoor of Uttarakhand during the CLTA-AITA National Ranking Tennis Championship, held here today. Meanwhile, local trainee Mahika Kahnna from Uttar Pradesh stunned third seed Delhi’s Jeetesh Kumari 6-2 6-2, and fourth seed Riya Sachdeva toppled eighth seed D Bhardwaj 6-1 7-5. Second seed Delhi’s also advanced further by overpowering Delhi’s Manshi Singh 6-3 7-5.

In the men’s category, top seed Delhi’s Sarthak Suden marched into the semis by recording a 6-2 7-6 (5) win over Maharashtra’s Svarmanyu Singh, while Haryana’s Parv Nage also moved ahead as he posted a 7-6(4) 6-3 victory over Aaditihya SM of Tamil Nadu. Garyana’s J Singh faced some resistance before posting 6-2 4-6 6-2 win over Delhi’s Ricky Chaudhary, and Manipur’s Shanker Heisnam also won a marathon fight against Haryana’s Arjun Rathi by recording a 6-2 1-6 7-6(6) win. Meanwhile, in the men’s doubles semis, the team of Sagar Kumar and Moksh Puri from Delhi defeated Vansh Bisht and Aryan Chauhan 6-3 6-2. — TNS
