Trader robbed of earrings, chain

Zirakpur: Two bike-borne youths snatched earrings and gold chain from a woman at gunpoint at Shiva Enclave in Zirakpur. Muskan Arora was in her shop around 1 pm when the youths arrived there as customers. They left the shop saying that they will come back with money from the ATM. After 15 minutes, both entered the shop and one of them pointed a pistol at her. The other snatched her earrings and chain, leaving her profusely bleeding. As the victim raised the alarm, the duo fled the spot. The robbers have been caught on CCTV cameras installed in the area, said the police. TNS

Mullanpur man hangs self

Mohali: A 36-year-old man hanged to death after alleging harassment by his wife and in-laws. The deceased Balwinder Singh’s brother Kashmir Singh, found him and rushed him to PGI, where doctors declared him dead. A case has been registered against his wife Karamjit Kaur, mother-in-law Tej Kaur and sister-in-law Gurdeep Kaur, all residents of Ludhiana, at the Mullanpur police station. TNS

Caretaker flees with jewellery

Mohali: An elderly woman was robbed of gold ornaments and valuables by her caretaker in Phase-IX. Karamvir Singh complained to the Phase-VIII police that Jagdeep Kaur of Tarn Taran was hired as a caretaker. She fled after taking jewellery worth lakhs. Police is investigating the matter. TNS
