As the farmers’ march to Delhi on February 13 draws near, authorities in Kaithal and Karnal have taken significant steps to maintain law and order.

In anticipation of the protest, Kaithal police have implemented stringent measures, including erecting nakas at seven strategic locations.

Two nakas in the district — Sangatpura and Titiyana — have been covered with concrete barricades while five others have been equipped with iron barricades. Heavy police force has been deployed at all the nakas.

Meanwhile, in Karnal, authorities have initiated traffic diversions for vehicles travelling from Delhi to Chandigarh. They are being diverted from Baldi Bypass in Karnal to Indri/Pipli, Yamunanagar, Panchkula, or Kurukshetra, Shahabad, Saha, Barwala, Ramgarh.

In a fresh traffic advisory, Karnal Police asked the commuters travelling from Delhi to Chandigarh to take the Shamli-Saharanpur route via the Karnal-Meerut Road, Manglora. Besides, vehicles heading towards Yamunanagar can take the Indri-Ladwa route to Yamunanagar.

The police claimed that these measures aimed to ensure smooth traffic flow and minimise disruptions during the planned demonstration. While the commuters said the traffic diversion led to inconvenience among commuters.

Kaithal police also issued a traffic advisory, saying all checkpoints sharing the border with Punjab will remain sealed. Commuters travelling to Patiala can use the routes via Cheeka to Kalarmajra, Baupur and Balhera.

Kaithal SP Upasana appealed to people to avoid travelling on February 12 and 13. In any emergency people can call at 112.
