In view of rising water levels due to additional release from the Sukhna Headworks, the Mohali district administration has suspended traffic movement on the Baltana bridge (Sukhna Choe) and the Mubarikpur causeway (Ghaggar River) as a precautionary measure to avoid any untoward incident.

Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal on Monday reviewed the situation on ground and visited the Baltana bridge to assess preparedness.

She informed that Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Anmol Singh Dhaliwal has been deputed to monitor water flow through urban local body areas, including Zirakpur and Dera Bassi.

The DC stated though water levels have increased, there was no immediate threat to residents. “The administration is maintaining constant vigil, and all machinery and manpower are on standby to handle any eventuality,” she added.

The administration has advised residents living near the Sukhna Choe and Ghaggar River to stay away from the water bodies and use alternate travel routes.
