The boys’ U-17 handball team of The Tribune School, Sector 29, recorded a 22-14 win over St Xavier’s School, Sector 44, on the opening day of the handball tournament for boys and girls (U-17 and U-19) categories, organised by the UT Sports Department.

In other matches, Sector 23 Coaching Centre defeated KVS 3BRD 26-18. In the girls’ U-16 category, Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 16, posted a 5-2 win over Government Model High School, Sector 25, and Sector 42 Coaching Centre posted a 16-2 win over St Xavier’s School.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
