Tricity revels in Janmashtami festivities

Prayers, fasting and revelry were witnessed across Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula as people on Saturday celebrated Janmashtami with religious fervour and enthusiasm. The festival marks the birth of Lord Krishna.

A large number of devotees thronged temples, which resounded with devotional songs and prayers since early morning. The main celebrations were observed at ISKCON temple in Sector 36 and Shri Chaitanya Gaudiya Mathh Mandir in Sector 20 here, where Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria, along with his wife Anita Kataria and family members, also offered prayers in the evening. Many parts of the tricity also witnessed traffic snarls on account of the festivities.

Shri Geeta Bhawan

Janmashtami was celebrated with fervour at Vishal Shri Geeta Bhawan, Shri Krishna Mandir, in Sector 52. Over 1,000 devotees participated in the grand celebrations to mark the birth of Lord Krishna.
