The protest has disrupted the normal movement of vehicles. Visitors to the airport frequently get late for flights and bus passengers too have to bear delays due to the traffic jam. Eyewitnesses said ambulances too are seen stuck in the traffic jam during the rush hours in the evening. The protesting truckers are demanding restoration of unions that were dissolved by the Congress government in 2017. The union members said they were in dire straits as there were no official rates and the annual hike of 5-6 per cent was also not being implemented. — TNS
