Two acquitted in 5-year-old Chandigarh murder case
A local court has acquitted two persons arrested in a 2019 murder case after the prosecution failed to prove the charges.
The police had booked Monu of Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, and Sandeep Verma of Amethi, on January 28, 2019, under sections 302 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
According to the complainant, Guddu Kumar, a friend of the victim, Lalit, had gotten into an argument with Sandeep and Motu at Labour Chowk, and attacked him with sticks. He later died during treatment.
On completion of the investigation, the report under section 173 (2) Code of Criminal Procedure was presented in the court. After hearing of the arguments the court acquitted the accused persons of the charges framed against them. —TNS
