The police here have arrested two persons — identified as Shafi Mohammad of Purkhali village (Rupnagar), and Darshan Singh of Sealba village (Mohali) — and seized 16,800 narcotic pills from their possession.

On November 11, while a Majri police station team was patrolling the area from Manakpur Sharif village to the Sealba-Majri road, two persons were apprehended with 280 Lomotil packages, each containing 60 tablets.

SP Dharamvir Singh said a case under the NDPS Act had been registered against the accused at the Majri police station. These accused were produced before a court on Wednesday and remanded in one-day police custody.
