Two immigration agents booked

Chandigarh: The UT police have registered cheating cases against two immigration consultants. In the first case, a woman resident of Rajasthan complained that she was duped of Rs 9 lakh by Education Immigration Services, Sector 44, on the pretext of sending her abroad. In the other case, Parmod Kumar of Bihar alleged that Gazal Kapoor of Global Consultancy, Sector 32, cheated him out of Rs 1.5 lakh. Cases have been registered at the Sector 34 police station. An investigation in both the cases was underway. TNS

Two minors held for theft at shop

Chandigarh: The UT police have apprehended two juveniles for stealing Rs 1.20 lakh in cash from a shop at Modern Housing Complex (MHC), Mani Majra, on on the night intervening July 20 and 21. Complainant Shikha had reported that cash lying in the locker was stolen. A case was registered at the Mani Majra police station. During investigation, the CCTV footage of the area was scrutinised and the suspects were identified and subsequently nabbed. TNS

New gen secy of fertility society

Mohali: Dr Lavleen Kaur Sodhi, senior IVF consultant at a private centre in Mohali, has taken over as general secretary of Greater Chandigarh Chapter (GCC) of Indian Fertility Society (IFS). The new executive committee of the GCC took over for a period of two years at an installation ceremony held on Sunday during a day-long conference on infertility management. The GCC of IFS was established in 2011 and around 100 members from the tricity are part of it. TNS

Facilitation camp in Mohali today

Mohali: A camp is being organised at Kambali village of Mohali sub-division on July 23 as part of a series of camps launched under the “Aap Di Sarkar Aap De Dwar” campaign launched by the Punjab Government.
