Complainant Jujhar Singh alleged he had visited the US, Canada and the UK as a part of the jatha of Nanaksar Gurdwara, Singhpura village, in the past, but he came to know that Gurpreet Singh, another jatha member, had been sent abroad on his passport with the connivance of Balwinder.

Jujhar said the matter came to light when he asked Balwinder to return his passport, but he claimed it had been misplaced. “Later, I came to know that he sent Gurpreet abroad on my passport,” he said. The Mohali SP (Rural) investigated the matter and registered the case under Sections 400, 410, 420 and 120-B of the IPC and 12 of the Passport Act.
