The suspects have been identified as Manjit Singh and Monu. The two are friends and Manjit is the son of the victim’s brother-in-law, said the police.

The victim, in her complaint, stated that she was living separately from her husband and son due to household disputes. She said Manjit used to arrange her meetings with her son in Mohali.

Recently, Manjit and Monu had come with her son to meet her. Monu went to market with her son. Manjit tried to rape her but she raised an alarm, following which Manjit fled the spot.
