In a proud moment for the city, two local boxers Krrishpal and Sagar Jakhar have been selected to represent the country in the Youth World Boxing Championship to be held at Bodva (Montenegro) and the Asian Youth Boxing Championship.

Krrishpal, a student of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Public School, Sector 35, was adjudged junior national champion. He has represented the nation twice in the Junior Asian Championship and also won a gold medal in the Junior Asian Jordan in 2022.

Meanwhile, Jakhar won silver medal at the North East Zone Boxing Championship, and another silver at the All India Inter-University Championship held at Chandigarh University recently.

Both boxers train at the Sector 56 coaching centre under the guidance of UT Sports Department coach Dr Bhagwant Singh, supported by coach Jai Hind.
