The suspects have been identified as Soumodeep Sarkar (20) and Sita Ram (21).

Complainant Biredner Singh, who retired from the UT police, had reported that he had received a WhatsApp call from an imposter posing as a treasury officer. The suspect told him that his pension and other allowances would be stopped for the want of a certificate.

The complainant received another call in which a suspect asked for his personal details, which were shared by him. Soon the complainant’s SIM stopped functioning and he later found that his number had been ported.
