Two fake call centres busted in Mohali, 10 arrested

The centre was being run by Sector 53 resident Manmeet Singh Banwait from the first and third floor of a building, said the police.
Among others arrested were Kharar residents Anmol Malhotra and Jasneet Kaur, Sector 117 resident Narmita, Gurpreet Singh of Phase-1 and Nagaland native Wugsam Hungue. The police seized five laptops, five headphones, nine mobile phones, computers and three luxury cars.
In a similar case, the police arrested Dwarka resident Moriya Nath, Kangra native Ishav Kumar, Kharar resident Rinchen Vinail and Jharkhand native Dolly Kumari. They seized four CPUs and five mobile phones from them.
The suspects used to send emails regarding bitcoin and Amazon purchases to people in foreign countries and hack Paypal accounts. They transferred the money using USDT and hawala transactions.

Nigerian youth held with drugs
Mohali: The police arrested a Nigerian youth with 540gm cocaine from Golden Estate, Sector 115. Cops said suspect, Eczoa, was held with 540 gm of narcotic substance, Rs 10,000 in drug money, eight large and 10 small envelopes, a digital fork, a steel spoon, a tape roll and rubbers of different colours were recovered on search of his bag.
During the police interrogation, the accused told cops that he brought the cocaine from New Delhi. The suspect has reportedly overstayed in India. A case has been registered.
Three arrested for snatching
The police have arrested three people for their alleged involvement in snatchings and theft incidents in the city.
The accused have been identified as Mauli Baidwan resident Gurjeet Singh and Sector 67 resident Parvinder Singh and Bihar native Roshan Mandal. The police team recovered three snatched mobile phones from the possession of the accused. On the complaint of Sector 86 resident Meen Luhar, a snatching case had earlier been registered.
