A team of the Cyber Crime Police Station, UT, arrested two youths from Uttar Pradesh for allegedly running an online investment-cum-work-from-home scam that left a city resident poorer by nearly Rs 9 lakh.

The accused were identified as 19-year-old Abuzar of Lucknow and his cousin 22-year-old Faizan Khan of Aligarh.

The arrests followed a technical investigation into an FIR dated September 3, registered after complainant Mandeep reported having been duped after being lured by an Instagram link promising high-commission tasks linked to e-commerce platforms.
