Two held for killing Talania resident, tossing body into canal

The body was recovered from the Bhakra canal near Sanipur

The police arrested have two brothers for allegedly killing a Talania village resident and throwing his body into Bhakra canal. The accused have been identified as Balraj Singh and Beant Singh, also residents of Talania.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Sukhnaz Singh said the brother-in-law of the victim, Gurcharan Singh, had filed a missing complaint on May 18. After an investigation, the body was recovered from Bhakra canal near Sanipur. During the investigation, it was found that deceased, Balraj Singh and a migrant laborer had an argument in an inebriated state, following which the accused thrashed the victim and threw him into the canal.

The police have handed over the body to the family after a post-mortem.
