Two cars had collided head-on, killing their drivers on the spot, while another hit one of these vehicles from the rear.

Harjit Singh, in-charge of Chunni police post, said preliminary investigation revealed that Lakhwinder Singh, along with his family, was going to Chandigarh from his village while Bhupinder Singh was going from his village towards Chunni. He said their cars collided head-on. Abhishek Rai, who was going from Chandigarh to Ludhiana in his car, could not apply brakes immediately and hit the car being driven by Bhupinder Singh.

The cop said the police reached the spot on getting information about the mishap and with the help of passersby dragged out those injured and rushed them to Indus Hospital at Pirjain village. He said the bodies were taken to the Civil Hospital, Fatehgarh Sahib, for a post-mortem examination.
