In the late hours of November 16/17, two girls — one a 16-year-old minor and the other aged 19 — went missing from the Pinjore police station area after leaving home without informing their families. When the families failed to locate them despite extensive searches, they reported the matter to the Pinjore Police on the evening of November 17. Taking the matter seriously, the police immediately registered a missing persons’ case.

A special police team was formed under the leadership of Sub-Inspector Kamaljit Singh. The team first gathered detailed information from the families, and then began tracing the girls through their possible contacts, friends and technical assistance.
