Two retired officers fined in house trespass case

A local court imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 each on two retired officers of Chandigarh Housing Board in a 13-year-old house trespass case.

Kailash Garg, SDE (Store) Enforcement, and Kirpal Singh, AE, had challenged an order passed by the trial court in 2024 in which they were sentenced to undergo six months of rigorous imprisonment for entering an allottee’s house without notice. In his complaint, Vinod Kumar Bansal of Modern Housing Complex, Manimajra alleged that they visited his house on February 28, 2012, and threatened his wife.

“Within the parameters of the law, an attempt has to be made to afford an opportunity to the individual to reform himself and lead life of a normal, useful member of society. In this case, ends of justice would be met if the sentence awarded by the trial court is modified by directing them to pay a fine of Rs 1,000 each for the commission of the offence punishable under Section 448 of the IPC,” the court ruled.
