Zirakpur, July 14

A truck driver and his helper were run over by a truck on the PR-7 Road in Zirakpur while they were checking the tyre pressure of their vehicle on Saturday night.

The victims, Lakhwinder Singh (45) and Kaka Singh (65), both residents of Lehragaga, were coming from the Dera Bassi side to Mohali when they stopped near the Saini Dhaba and to check the tyre pressure.

Meanwhile, a truck coming ran them over and fled the spot. Investigating officer Jaswant Singh said Kaka died on the spot while Lakhwinder was taken to the GMCH-32 where theh doctors declared him dead on arrival.
