Unchahar Exp arrives 15-hour late
The Unchahar Express (14217), which was scheduled to arrive here at 9 am on the second day of its journey on Thursday, finally reached at 12:49 am last night, 15 hours and 34 minutes behind schedule.
The train, which departs from Prayagraj at 2 pm, started its journey more than nine hours late due to heavy fog. A number of other trains travelling through the region were also running late.
Passengers aboard the delayed Unchahar Express expressed their frustration upon finally disembarking at the station. “I had a meeting in Chandigarh that was supposed to start at 11 am yesterday. Now I am exhausted and can’t even think straight,” said Rajesh Kumar, a businessman from Prayagraj.
“I’ve been stuck in this train for over 15 hours. This is just unacceptable. I understand that weather delays happen, but this was too much to handle,” he said.
Meanwhile, the New Delhi-Amb Andaura Vande Bharat was delayed by 1 hour and 18 minutes, arriving at 9:56 am. The New Delhi-Kalka Shatabdi, despite leaving Delhi on time, arrived here 1 hour and 23 minutes late. Even the Mumbai-Amritsar Paschim Superfast reached the station an hour late.
The situation highlights the ongoing challenges posed by severe fog in the region, leaving train passengers with little recourse but to endure extended waits. With no immediate signs of improvement, passengers are hoping for more reliable communication regarding future delays.
