The UT Administration has decided to use ration stores, fruit and vegetable shops and medical stores in sector markets as points for organising door-to-door delivery during the curfew period. Either government or private couriers will deliver the orders to the residents on the doorstep.

Mohali, Panchkula to honour passes issued by UT
- It was decided that the authorities of Mohali and Panchkula will respect the passes and IDs issued by the Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh, so that personnel, including health staff, police, chemists etc, do not face problems and important supply chains are maintained.
- Similarly, the Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh, was also directed to respect the passes issued by Mohali and Panchkula. It was also directed to ensure that government employees going for duty to banks, the Press and government officials of neighbouring states do not suffer because of checking by the police during the curfew period.
This was decided during a meeting presided over by UT Adviser Manoj Parida to review the availability of essential items and it was assured that milk and newspapers would be provided to each house every morning throughout the curfew period.
It was also decided that in periphery areas, packed ration, fruits, vegetables etc would be provided door to door at fixed prices.
As regarding senior citizens staying without assistance, provision for home delivery of medicines has been ensured. Medicines are available on call (home delivery) on three numbers i.e. 9815272650, 9814055034 and 9876537241 from 10 am to 7 pm. Chemist shops in the city have already been allowed to open throughout the curfew.
Punjab Governor and UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore presided over a meeting with tricity officials to review the situation during the curfew period through video-conferencing.
Badnore thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving two months ration money to people. The decision was taken by the Central Government on a request of the Chandigarh Administration after the Administrator’s personal intervention. The UT Administration has released the food subsidy for the months of April and May, and the same has been credited to the accounts of registered beneficiaries of the UT.
He gave directions to the officials to maintain strictness during the curfew and ensure that there was no unnecessary crowd or congestion anywhere on the streets. He directed the police authorities to strictly implement the orders. However, relaxation on a case-to-case basis and on humanitarian grounds would be given to people for emergency medical work, wherever required.

It was decided that coordination with Mohali and Panchkula authorities was to be maintained so that people coming to or going from the city don’t face any difficulty.
The video conference was attended by UT Adviser Manoj Parida, Home Secretary Arun Gupta, Finance Secretary AK Sinha, DGP Sanjay Baniwal, the MC Commissioner, all three Deputy Commissioners, SSPs and senior officials of the tricity.
Chemists open; get home delivery too
Chandigarh: The UT Administration has said that all hospitals and chemist shops will remain open in the city during the curfew. However, it is mandatory for the chemist shop owners to get passes of their personnel made from the DC office. The Administration has also made a provision for the home delivery of medicines. Now, medicines will be available on call (home delivery) on these three numbers — 9815272650, 9814055034 and 9876537241 from 10 am to 7 pm.
Supply of essentials in Mohali
Milk, Veggies: 6 am to 9 am
Grocery, medicines: 8 am to 11 am
- Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan said the essential supplies of milk and vegetables would be available through street vendors from 6 am to 9 am. He said people could get grocery and medicines by calling their local grocery/chemist shop for delivery between 8 am and 11 am.
- A list of shops with their contact numbers is being updated on a website, www.sasnagar.gov.in. and people can also contact the control room on 0172-2219541/7888556264 for a delivery-related issue.
