Chandigarh has hit the third lowest spot in the country with an overall pass percentage of 97.94 in the Class X results declared by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) today. As many as eight states scored a pass percentage of 100. The lowest pass percentage of 77.9 was scored by Arunachal Pradesh, followed by Sikkim 93.29 and Chandigarh 97.49.

A total of 19,009 students appeared for the exam in the UT and 18,618 were declared pass. Girl students fared better with 98.04 pass percentage, while it was 97.8 among boys. Till 2019, Chandigarh (UT) was counted in the Panchkula region of the board and comprised states of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and J&K and the UT.

From the 2019-20 session, the Chandigarh region comprised J&K, Haryana and the UT of Chandigarh whereas the Panchkula region includes Haryana and Himachal Pradesh states.

The overall pass percentage of the Chandigarh region stands at 99.46. Around 96.93 per cent of government school students and 99.70 per cent of private school pupils in the Chandigarh region passed the exams.
