Vande Bharat cancelled

The Chandigarh-Ajmer Vande Bharat Express was cancelled from here due to adverse weather conditions. The train began its journey from Delhi Cantonment at 6:30 pm.

The train from Ajmer to Chandigarh was short-terminated in Delhi, leaving passengers for Ambala and Chandigarh in the lurch.

The New Delhi-Kalka Shatabdi reached here 2 hours and 30 minutes behind schedule, as it departed from New Delhi late. Several travellers received SMS notifications about the changes, but not everyone was aware of the short-termination of Vande Bharat. “I got the message late, and by then, my entire plan was disrupted,” said Saurabh Mehta, a frequent traveller.

“Not everyone checks their phones regularly, and the lack of alternative arrangements added to chaos,” he added.

The Prayagraj-Chandigarh Unchahar Express was again running late by over 12 hours, leaving Prayagraj more than 9 hours late. The Sainagar Shirdi-Kalka Express was delayed by 1 hour and 34 minutes.

“The delays are becoming a daily occurrence,” said Nipunn Aggarwal, a passenger aboard the Shatabdi. “We understand the weather challenges, but there should be better communication and contingency plans to manage such disruptions,” he added.

Railway officials cited dense fog across northern India as the primary reason for the delays and short-termination of trains. “Safety is our top priority. However, we understand the inconvenience caused to passengers and are working to improve updates and minimise disruption,” said a railway spokesperson.
