Prof Renu Vig, Vice-Chancellor of the Panjab University, launched a recently published book, ‘Calcium-Based Materials for Biomedical Applications’, at an event held today in the university. Prof YP Verma, Registrar, Prof Anupama Sharma, Chairperson of Dr SS Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology, and Prof Krishan Saluja, secretary to the Vice Chancellor, were also present on the occasion.

The book, published by Taylor & Francis Group (CRC Press), is a comprehensive work that delves into the significant insights and advancements in the field of biomedical materials, specifically focusing on calcium-based materials. Comprising two volumes, the book provides an in-depth analysis of these materials, exploring their various biomedical applications and potential.

As the editor of the book, Asstt Prof Sanjeev Gautam, also from the Dr SS Bhatnagar University Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology, highlighted the fact that most of the chapters had been contributed by young researchers and faculty members of the Panjab University. “This collaboration not only showcases the university’s dedication to cutting-edge research, but also serves as an inspiration to researchers, students and professionals in the biomedical field,” he said.

In her address, the VC emphasised the importance of such scholarly contributions and expressed her admiration for the collaborative efforts of the university’s researchers. She stated that, “This book is a testament to the innovative spirit and academic excellence of Panjab University. It reflects our commitment to advancing knowledge and fostering research that has real-world impact.”
