CBI later arrested Kalyani Singh, on June 15, 2022, on murder charges.
The cross examination of the prosecution witness was completed today in the CBI court. Dr Amandeep Singh of the Department of Forensic Medicine, Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, was one of the doctors who conducted the postmortem and issued the report on September 21, 2015.
While answering the questions of defence counsel, he said the track of the wound for injuries number 3 and 4 (on the front, left shoulder and right back) was downwards.
The report dated September 24, 2015, submitted by doctors read, “From the tracks of the wound, it can be opined that the position of the victim was lower than compared to the assailant at the time of shots.”
Dr Amandeep Singh also told the court that he cannot comment on the number of weapons used, but added that two types of pellets were recovered from the wounds. The possibility of two weapons or a change of cartridge in the same weapon, he said, cannot be ruled out.
The expert said the exact distance from which the shot was fired depends on the type of weapon and can be best answered by a ballistics expert after testing the alleged crime weapon.
He also said that he cannot tell the exact distance of the shot being fired on the basis of blackening of clothes and shape of wounds, but that the distance of a such presentation is usually seen in close range.
CBI claimed in the charge -sheet that Kalyani was seen walking and talking to deceased Sippy Sidhu and thereafter killing him with an unknown person with firearms on the day of the incident in the park.
The CBI claimed that the eyewitness also saw one unknown person entering the park and fired two gun shots at the deceased. Thereafter he also saw accused Kalyani Singh firing two gun shots at the deceased.
