Vishal claimed twin titles by winning Under-17 and Under-19 year finals during the ongoing 2nd Chandigarh State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament, at the Sector 50 Sports Complex.

In the boys’ U-17 final, Vishal faced a tough challenge by Vadya before winning the title.

Vishal trailed in the final after losing first two games 6-11 6-11. However, he bounced back with a 11-7 11-2 verdict to level the score. In the decider, Vishal maintained a good composer to register a 11-7 win for the gold medal.

In the boys’ U-19 title clash, Vishal ensured his dominance over Aditya by logging a 11-5 12-10 10-12 11-9 win to bag the second gold of the evening.

Vani, Cherrish bag gold

In the girls’ U-17 final, Vani logged a 11-7 11-6 11-6 win over Teetiksha to bag the top honour. Cherrish, meanwhile, struggled hard to defeat Vani and won the girls’ U-19 gold medal. Vani was never a easy opponent, as she won the opening game 9-11, but in the next game, Cherrish bounced back with a narrow margin of 15-13. Vani won the next game 3-11,but Cheerish bounced back in the match with a 11-5 11-7 verdict in the next two games. In semis, Vani defeated Maira 6-11 11-9 11-7 11-5 and Cherrish defeated Teetiksha 11-9 11-9 11-8.
