Visitors to the Dera Bassi tehsil office were in for a surprise when they were redirected to the SDM’s residence for formalising their sale deeds as the main office is under renovation for a fortnight.

Close to hundred visitors, including women and elderly, had a harrowing time since morning as they waited for the tehsildar till 3 pm. Fed up waiting for hours, they crowded at the narrow door of the house, compounding problems further.

“No seating arrangement, no drinking water. This is the state of affairs at tehsildar’s office. The office is functioning from a residence. The tehsildar comes here occasionally for an hour or so,” said an irate visitor.

SDM Himanshu Gupta said, “It is a stop-gap arrangement till the renovation is complete. Seating arrangement and drinking water facility will be arranged tomorrow. Today, there was rush due to two-day backlog. Things will be normal from tomorrow.”
